Once Upon a Time is another NOT FABLES show

This one is much more fantastic though. Snow, Frau, Bigby, Hobbes, heck, even Cock Robin made this one. With a Sunday time slot, I hope this one ends up being a quality family show and doesn't misstep like No Ordinary Family. Dropping a Dumb@$$ in the first 30 seconds is not a good way to launch a family show.

Tim the Tool Man Taylor 2.0 in Last Man Standing

This time -- Tim Allen is in Ladiestown. Nostalgia will bring me in, just like much of America. Quality writing will keep us around, cruddy writing will cause us to leave. Tim Allen is more than qualified to carry this series. I hope for the best. I really would like a return to the grunting glory.

I was too young for the original series. Really liked the first film. Hated the second. Seems like the right tone might turn this one into the next Hawaii 5.0.

The River is LOST 2.0

This looks very much like a lost sequel by the numbers. More action. Less character development. More secrets revealed much sooner. So basically, when 1/3 of the LOST audience left between seasons 2-6, ABC waited until now to try and get them back. I don't think I need to explain it much more than that.

Could have some good things going for it, but if it is going to be erased character development every week just to re-rack and tell the same jokes over and over again, it won't be around long.

I usually don't show clips for shows that have no chance of being watched in our home, but you have GOT to see this.

So, first of all, Ashley Judd isn't really a big enough star to pull off "here's a show that I happen to be in, isn't that reason enough to watch?" Second of all, she breaks the 4th wall by introducing herself, then pretends like it was never broken by speaking as the character she plays?!?!?!?!?!?!? PICK A BIT AND STICK WITH IT!

Cross dressing Work It will be the first show cancelled of the season.
Revenge-- not for me.
Suburgatory-- Poor Jeremy Sisto, he's better than this.
I've already turned and run from Good Christian Belles. What a terrible jumbled mess.
I would rather see the exact opposite show instead of Scandal. Uncovering cover-ups. Not creating cover-ups.

WHOOOOHOOOOO! New Cartoons on FOX!

First up - Napoleon Dynamite

Although there is no reason to ever make a sequel to the genius that is the film -- I totally endorse an animated series. These are characters that would need to continue living. I have high hopes for this. Probably won't last long but that is okay. A few episodes will be awesome enough for me.

Allen Gregory is the Jonah Hill I have always wanted to see:

Jonah Hill usually is a bit too uncomfortable to look at, but but take away that one flaw from his box and this looks pretty funny.

Alcatraz is the BEEF at FOX. After visiting "The Rock" in middle school, I have a soft spot for the place in my heart for the most fabled prison in our country's history.

Dr. Alan Grant is BACK in the non-Dinosaur show. Love the Triskelion-like breakout story. This is my second most anticipated show so far.

As far as the Dinosaur show Terra Nova:

HATE IT! Will watch, but it is a logistical and philosophical mess.
1. They destroy themselves by going back and changing the past.
2. They were always predestined to travel back, thus making the show pointless because they will either all die or choose to abandon technology and society. Guess what, that was the conclusion to BSG.
3. They create an alternate time stream parallel to the original. Biff builds a hotel / casino.
Either way, the conclusion has already written itself as one of these three.

New Girl is not for me at all, but will be playing in our home weekly due to the Dirty Dancing references alone:

The point of Zooey being disinteresting was integral to the plot of 500 Days of Summer. She isn't that character in this. But she still comes off is so separated that it doesn't work for me.

Touch, staring Jack Bauer as "Not Jack Bauer" doesn't currently have a preview.
The Finder is Bones 2.0 spinoff. Since I don't watch the main show...
I am going big cliche with I HATE I Hate My Teenage Daughter. Least favorite thing I've seen yet.

This is my favorite time of the TV season. Not sweeps. Not Season Finales. Not Premiers.

UPFRONTS!!!!

Everything is clean and new. What's coming? What's going to bomb? What will get a full season pickup? What will have 10 seasons like Smallville?

The big player this year is Terra Nova on Fox. More on that later.

Not too many bubble teams this year. Everything pretty well decided last week. Still surprised that Chuck made the cut again, but being thrown to Friday night may be a mercy killing.

Without further delay -- We start at The Peacock!

NBC BLOWS IT UP! 12 new shows.

First up -- GRIMM

Yep all caps. I hate that this show was developed and Fables was not. We get Ride, Bigby Wolf, what look like Hobbes, and what might be Price Charming as the cop. What we don't have is the most rich character driven fiction I have read in my lifetime. That being said, I will be checking it out.

Awake is my favorite mind&@$*:

THIS is a great premise. If I were to recommend one show on The Peacock, this would be it. But I love these morality and reality torture stories. I really hope we get a full season with this one. It has so many possibilities to launch to from here. Plus Jason Issacs is one of my absolute favorite actors. He plays emotion of a normally conflicted dude so good.

Prime Suspect = Girl Power Cop Drama.

Might be pretty fun. Nice to see empowered women on broadcast TV and not just the cable networks.

The exact opposite is The Playboy Club. Right up there with the Swingers show a few years ago. Has no place on broadcast TV. Let that go to USA or AMC. Not over the air.

Up All Night reminds me of how terrible having a baby is:

This is going to be a hit. More stylized that a sit-com. This is the safest bet from NBC to get a full season pickup. Much better than Will Arnett's show this season. Also solidifies that he will NOT be the new boss on The Office after all.

Free Agents looks like a pretty adorable restart story:

Don't know if it has more than 13 episodes of story to it, but it could be good for at least that long.

The Hulkless Broadway story of Smash:

Evolution from HSM to Glee to Smash - Check
This is the next step in taking the musical genre seriously again. Will it work? Who knows. (insert Cop Rock joke now).

Whitney is working WAY too hard to try and be funny.
As is Are You There Vodka, It's Me Chelsea. I really hate most "comedies" these days.
Bent is a perfect example of dude that shouldn't get the girl trying to get the girl. That is 100% disinterest.
I am clearly not the target audience for Best Friends Forever -- so why bother trying.
No preview for The Firm. It is based on the movie/book of the same name. Meh...

NBC has made a hard push, even on most of their throw away shows. Hopefully this will be the season that pulls the channel out of the dumps.

Might be adding a few more to that group. Awake is a midseason replacement, but that is tops on my list. Smash, GRIMM, and Free Agent might be worth keeping around as well. I am sure "we" will be watching Up All Night, but with lesser intensity from myself.

Baby Idols night! Meh...

Naima- I am a big fan of the Coexist Logo.

My favorite Tina Turner song. Very dumbed down tonight. Not that good.

Paul- One of my top 20 favorite songs of all time. Dumbed down again. Totally the wrong sound for this song. Absolute mumbling throughout. Hated it. 100%. Paul is a mess.

Thia- OH MY GOSH! HER SONG FROM WHEN SHE WAS BORN WAS THE POCAHONTAS SONG!?!?!?!?!?! I AM SO OOOOOLLLLLLDDDDDDDD! Oh, and this song, once again isn't really a happy-go-lucky song. Singing is nice, but songs have a tone. A purpose. Otherwise she might as well sing "Lollipop!"

James- Finally a goodie. Jon Bovi! Dig this song big time. The rushed through version wasn't for me. Singing was pretty good though. He had fun though. More that anybody else tonight. I'm just not down with the up tempo. Best so far by a long shot. OH NO, THE SEVEN SECOND DELAY KICKED IN!

Haley- She tries really hard at some parts of her performances, but is kinda lazy with other parts. The overall product was MUCH better than the past few runs for her. If she gets it all to connect, she could be dangerous. Hope she gets another shot at it.

Stefano- Zzzzzzzz...... Sure, he sang really good. Just boringly. Has there ever been a nicer guy on AI before though?

Pia- Missed Pia again. Always during tuck-in time. I'm sure she was fine again.

Scott- Scotty sang bass. Yep he sings country pretty good. Still.

SIDE NOTE- Is that a giant clam shell with plants growing in it on the coffee table with the coach?

Karen- So campy it is awesome. Vote for the Worst is going to have their work cut out for them tonight.

Casey- Still my favorite going into tonight. NIRVANA! WHAAAA! This dude is nuts. Love him. Wait -- I'M OLD! He's not selling the disinterested Kirk -- it is CRAZY CASEY! Hate to say it, but it reminded me more of Weird Al. He's safe, so why not ham it up a bit. That was pretty dang funny. He knew he could BS through this week. JLo totally didn't get the bit at all. That was a dang funny way to go though. He might even be able to get away with another throw away week before things start heating up.

Lauren- Went from being a kid comfortable in front of the camera to pretending to act like America's idiot darling. Mom was right, she's warn out.

Jacob- He's gotta get his act together. Jacob's been a mess since control was thrown into America's hands. Starting off shaky. Come on buddy. You were my lock pick 3 weeks ago. Sounds a few notes off or something. The singing is really great. This is a female singing the original, right? I'm challenged to find out what I'm not getting here. He's just not clean and crisp in his voice. Kinda nasal.

All in all, these episodes are LONG. I'm losing disinterest.

American Idol Top 13!

1. Roadhouse- More like Roadhouse 2 or even 3 this year. Quite a drop from last week.

2. Scruffy looking Nerfherder- YES! HE IS THE REAL DEAL! Crapola that was great! Gotta hunch over and catch my breath. Damn this dude is going to win!

3. Sassitude- Much less sassitude this week. Somebody coached her good this week. Kept herself alive for another week.

4. Stumbledancer- I have a warm spot in my heart for the devilishly soft over and undertone of Bryan Adams' voice. Perfect choice for this dude. Don't play around if you dip back into Adams. Sing us Heaven. Great show.

5. Martian Conqueror (you get that reference, I'll give you an attagirl or attaboy)- She got MAD pipes. Mom says she is a huge frontrunner. I will agree 100%. She needs to punch out some personality to make the final 2, but she is right up there as #2 right now.

COMMERCIAL BREAK- Breaking in = Chuck 2.

6. The Legend of Screechy Hollow- Pedestrian for the first time this season. When he abandoned the screaming at the very end- it was pretty dang tender though. If he finds a better balance, he could still nab the title.

7. Dixie Stampede- I want to go to Trail Dust really bad right now. If telling somebody that their singing reminds me of crushed peanut shells right under my shoes can be taken as a complement.... This is the time when it should.

8. Church- He really overworked this song. Didn't even resemble the same song at all. Almost silly sounding. Another 2-3 goofball corny performances and he won't make the top 5.

9. Too young to know any better- Total tone misstep. I cannot stand it when the tone of a song is missed completely. PAY ATTENTION TO WHAT THE SONG IS ABOUT! Won't make the top 5.

10. Exercises with Smiles- Pretty good solid showing. Won't make the top 5, but may be around for quite a few more weeks.

11. Ten Gallon Earrings- Well, she sang the song. Nothing more. Nothing less.

12. Giddy Up Oom Poppa Omm Poppa Mow Mow- The River is THE Garth Brooks song. He sang it beautifully, but not masterfully. Again missed THE TONE of the song. It is an exercise in self existence while balancing the life experience and reality of mortality, not a feel good song.

13. Double Vowels- I dig me this Rihanna song. Lots. It was a good impersonation. But that is about it.

I REALLY think tonight was the best Top XX episode ever. No real dumpers. Sure, 4-5 were outstanding, but none really tanked.

Casey, Pia, and James have made names for themselves next week. Rest still get nicknames.

It's Ladies Night!

1. The Hair- Jordan says she'll probably make it through. I'm just wondering why she is wearing high heeled socks with a giant diaper under her dress? Solid effort. She didn't shoot herself in the foot. May be enough. Mom is battling it out with Randy to become the new Simon. A strong "meh.." from Texas.

2. Miss "look where I came from"- Very jazzy. I think I spun her when working at KNTU. She'll land strong after tonight.

3. Leather Pants- Maybe it is just me, but I can never tell if we are looking at the front or back when looking at leather pants. Reminded me of President Scroob when he was beamed down and his head was on backwards. Oh, her singing, um, we just worked on Zoe's spelling list instead of paying attention. I think it was a good decision.

4. Too young to dress too old- Singing was okay, buy I couldn't really watch as she turned into the poster child for jailbait.

SIDE NOTE- I really wish just one year we would get a group of ladies that just blow away the guys. Maybe the next 2/3 will be better.

5. Starlight Express- Habla Espanol! She was GREAT! Safe on the surface, but really risky in execution. Pulled it off perfectly.

6. Baby Steps- This is not good. Not good at all. That's about all I have to say about that.

COMMERCIAL BREAK- May have to give Traffic Light another run.

7. Big Hair II- She's pretty good. Drop some sass and she would be very likable. Now she's sweet AFTER the song. Bummer for her. Might cost her some votes.

8. She who stole Jessica Simpson's face and hair- Now THAT was a safe song. JLo nailed it. She was too worried about being pretty instead of feeling the music.

9. Curlz- Sultry. One of the best tonight. The exact opposite personality of the last chick. Where the previous chick was wooden, she was was silky smooth.

10. Quiet as a Mouse- Shame that her mic was turned down at the beginning. He was really good. LOCK!

11. Roadhouse- Seriously, she's singing the soundtrack for the remake of the masterpiece original. Cowbells too! LOCK also.

12. I enjoyed tucking in the kids more than this performance. So- it will go comment free.

I pick 2, 4, 5, 9, 10, and 11.

I may miss on as many as three this time around.

Dudes!

1. Goggles guy- I don't care if he brought the world to peace and understanding, I hope the guy that dumped on JC is GONE.

2. Strong guy that smiles- He's pretty solid. May be enough to get to the top 24. He won't get much further. But that's okay. Nice guy nonetheless. Besides, I like anybody who sings this song. Always reminds me of the FOX promo when Dylan returned to 90210.

3. Tall guy that's full of himself- Train Wreck! He POP POP POPPED into like 4 different singers in that song. "I can do better" just means you weren't prepared to do good tonight.

4. Guy whose name sounds like the Jim Halper from The Office- Looking forward tonight, it looked like a pretty good batch, but this guy rounded out the first four bummers. Things will look up from here. He beat out JC? Dang.

5. Fire head guy that sings a song about fire- I like this guy's whole soft vibe. Zoe says "I REALLY like this guy!" Guy was the best so far. Very comfortable on stage. That's the most important part! First Top 12 LOCK of the night. On a side note, I'm so glad we no longer have the Ryan-Simon homophobia vibe going any more. The toss to commercial was cute.

6. Squeal McSquealalots- Guy is already a superstar. With the right support crew around him- he's got an amazing life ahead of him. Huge for him that he has this opportunity to launch himself forward. Loved it.

7. 13 year old awkward looking kid that is just a little bit bigger and more goofy looking than the other eighth graders- I think he was venturing beyond and backpedaling before puberty throughout the whole song. Randy was the only one that saw what I saw - "never quite comfortable through the whole thing."

8. Guy who better sing some Oak Ridge Boys pretty dang soon- Nice. Juicy sweet. We need some Paul Brandt "My Heart has a History" pretty soon too. His lungs must be down below his kidneys. Yeesh, that was good.

9. Guy that went through the same Hell I did- What a positive buzz this guy brings. This show is really grooving now. Another LOCK! He shined through that one.

COMMERCIAL UPDATE- I need to see Paul---Really bad.

10. Skinny beard guy- HA! His name is PAUL! Too funny. I'm not as excited to see him as I am the alien movie. He might not make the cut. It'll be close. Especially with the next two being pretty dang good.

11. My guy- This is a guy that LOVES singing. Kinda distanced tonight from the music. Still good, but I expected better.

12. The Musician OR Not quite as skinny beard guy- What a gutsy performance. Soulish. Funkish. Overall greatness.

I pick 5, 6, 8, 9, 11, and 12.

I don't think I'll miss by more than one.

I've said it before, I'll say it again. Pick a song we know. If not, we won't be able to connect to your singing.

If it didn't do right what it did right so well, it would have been less.

1. The wait. If not all party members have activated their tickets for the day, no fastpasses. So, this guranteed us a 12 hour day. No way around it.

2. The wait II. Fastpass times were 75-45 minutes before show time. We have two handicapped members of our party that don't feel like taking advantage of Disney's ride assistance program. That's a long wait.

3. The view. We sprinted at the rope drop to get fastpasses and ended up in a side section. We arrived an hour early, and still filled the back corner of the viewing area. There was so much crap in our way, I counted 7 view obstructions. Way too many.

4. The size of the show. After boasting how high the fountains sprayed and how big it all would be, the projections were so low, the only good view for ANYBODY that I could see were for people 6'3" and taller or kids riding shoulders. When nobody can see, what's the point?

5. I've seen all these movies before. Giving me a bunch of movie clips sprayed on water and having that be more than 50% of the show doesn't show creativity, it shows laziness.

6. Why are you adding pyrotechnics to this show? It goes from being a beautiful show of water and light to a smokey dirty mess. Why ruin what could be billed as a clean and green show with that?

7. The good stuff. Here is what gives me the ability bump this thing up to two. The beginning and end were amazing, taking full advantage of the colors and fountains. They included the kaleidoscope from the show intro. Sadly, they never included the original audio though.

We saw it. Glad we did. Will probably never see it again. For a show of fluid, there wasn't much flow. Too bad, I was really excited too.

What was better than the show, was just watching the glowing water as we left the viewing area.

Kung Fu Kid is pretty.

Sorry for my lacking movie, well, not reviews, but observations.

But, after watching The Kung Fu Kid (the word Karate might not even be in the film), I am left wanting to visit China for the first time in my life.

This isn't the same China we saw at the 2008 Bejing Olympic games. No medical masks. No massive smog. No garbage. Just the beauty of this sacred land.

This was a very respectful film. I am now a HUGE Kung Fu fanatic. I have spent the aftenoon focusing my Chi.

Beyond the awe inspiring visuals, the Kung Fu was a bit intense for my taste, especially since the subjects were pre-teens.

There was just enough of the plot altered that the viewer wasn't directly comparing the movie to the original, the original worked more as a reference point. More re-makes should follow this lead. I'm talking to you Wizard of Oz remakes. Don't become a Willy Wonka or Psycho remake.

I officially don't think I ever had insomnia!

I am reclassifying my self diagnosis. I think I have an anxiety, just shy of a fear, of trying to fall asleep. I can be dead tired, but REFUSE to turn off the TV or close the book until I am absolutely sure I will fall asleep instantly.

I would rather sacrafice the good sleep I could be having than deal with the intense feeling of anxiety over wondering when or how I will slip out of consciousness.

The difficult part is that anytime I try to overcome this anxiety, all I so is panic myself with insecurity to the point of never falling asleep.

I'll have to do more evaluation, but think I may be getting closer to understanding the problem. Keep in mind, this has nothing to do with findig a solution. But hey, it is a step. Lateral step, but at least it is someting.

Is Frontierland expansion next at Magic Kingdom FL?

Been monitoring 4-5 Disney sites the past few days. About a dozen topics about a GIGANTIC Frontierland expansion. Each one deleted within a few hours. This is fueling rumors that Disney has put a hard lean on these sites to make them edit content. Rumors of filling in the Rivers of America and plowing Tom Sawyers Island. Others that the Island will stay, but be fully functional. Another one with an attraction that goes between the mainland and the island. Rumors of Villians land starting with the Haunted Mansion. Wild River Expedition. Journey to the Center of the Earth from DisneySea.

Talk of even starting half way through the Fantasyland expansion.

Filling in the river and scraping the island would open up 1/5 - 1/6 of the park as fresh open space.

Worries are that the current revamp plan would skew the park as way too girl friendly and boys will develop a mindset of rejecting the park for years to come.

Girls are much more likely to accept boy stuff than the reverse. WDW feel the over princessing is already having that affect. The fear is that a ten year generation of boys could hold that negative mindset longer and harder than the group that rejected Epcot as boring and educational (and some still do). Thus all scraped Epcot attractions have dumbed down the experience and added thrills or cartoons.

Interesting research and prospects for sure.

What a wonderful pool of animated films this year. Despicable Me, Toy Story 3, Shrek 4, and the biggest surprise, How to Train your Dragon. All fantastic films so far. I really dig that animation is really becoming a solid genre instead of something to grab money from families with disregard for quality.

I will add no spoilers, but this is by far the funniest story of the four films this year. Minions -- stay around -- for a LONG LONG TIME!

It was a very enjoyable finale. Better than I thought it would be. Very fitting end for the guy that has had the worst day ever way too many times.

LOST always was the story of Jack.

Not the island, not Walt, not Dharma food drops, not elactromagnetic stations, not Eloise Hawking, not Jacob, not good, not evil, or a million other questions that the audience demanded answering.

When it all ended we followed Jack's jounrney of fulfilment. We learned what Jack learned, but none of the other answers were necessary to finsh Jack's or our quest through this story.

It is a story about the hardships you survived through with others and how well you wish of eachother in the end.

The genius of the conclusion is that there are other stories to be told. They may be much more important than Jack's.

When it was all said and done, Locke was content not being special. Sawyer learned that blame for bad times isn't as important as getting through them. Kate ran towards danger instead of away to do the right thing. Ben learned that enough was good enough. Hurley learned that he can shoulder true responsibiilty instead of just supporting others. Claire learned that although you may not have always been there, you can still always be there. Sayid learned that punishing yourself can keep you from redemption.

What it all came down to is that because they lived together, they didn't have to die alone.

Pretty creepy yet interesting stuff. I never had the chance to go there but do remember the premise pretty well. It was mainly a bird sanctuary I believe with a few other critters to visit as well.

Most recently, there has been talk of turning it into LOST island, it was either used or rumored to be used for a big Pirates of the Caribbean event for the release of one of the films.

When Disney pulls out of something, they sure have no problem neglecting to clean up their mess.

It was the PERFECT ending.

Mark does not get shot down by baddies and lives.

Olivia and daughter go to the beach to watch some waves and she does not sleep with Lloyd.

Lloyd is left abandoned on her doorstep with his son as he should be for trying so hard to break up their family.

Dr. Cancer is at the hold up where Asian lady is no longer.

Asian lady at the airport.

Candy Striper girl is left in Dr. Cancer's house and not dying.

AA guy's daughter dies because he didn't try hard enough to connect with her when she came home.

Noh is not dead.

Noh's chicka is on her way to Hawaii by herself.

The guy on the can was not taking a dump.

Pregnant chick is going to lose her baby.

Agent announcing Mark dead for his daughter to hear is no where near the daughter.

Simon didn't have a flash forward and he was sleeping in the back of the SUV.

All in all, I thought this was the absolute perfect end for the show. The entire them of the show with the guy in holding was that the more you try to "figure it out", the more you guide yourself to you eventual future. But that future may not be quite exactly as what was expected.

It would have really put the theme of the show into place. The harder that each person worked to manipulate the future, there became major consequences. Both changing and fulfilling fate are not our job. Not at all.

Adding another week destroys the genius that this episode put together. Total bummer.

The big switch comes as CBS takes on NBC's near legendary Must See TV! on Thursday nights. Big Bang Theory and the new

$#*! My Dad says are looking to topple the comedy time slot dominated by The Peacock for over a decade and a half. Brave programming for sure, but BBT has KILLED in the ratings since the new year, and this show looks pretty entertaining. Very much the same "laugh track" comedy tone that basically tells you when you need to be enjoying it, but this may surprise.

Hawaii 5-0 (III) does not want to take the former Agent Tom Baker, Daniel Dae Kim, from the Tiki Kingdom...

A real mixed bag out of the Mouse House.

Mr. Sunshine is my fave of the ABC Lineup. Matthew Perry is always a gas, but Allison Janney will hopefully get the footing she deserves. Just watch and judge for yourself.

My Generation may be one of the most interesting projects coming this fall. Set in the 10 year reunion timish for a class of 2000. Since I am a sucker for quality heartstring tuggings, this might be right up my ally. The cynic in me fears that this will turn out more like "The Hills" than something inspirational. I have much more hope for this than The Class a few years back.

Detroit 1-8-7 pulls back the cover on the saddest state of affairs in America today. "We might be the last assembly line in Detroit." This looks must see.

No Ordinary Family is a VERY FAMILY FRIENDLY looking superhero show. Think Incredibles and Friday night TGIF on ABC back in the early 90s. Hopefully they can keep this show fairly clean and it can grow as a franchise for several years to come. Family viewing is such an oddity these days on network TV.

On the bottom --

Body of Proof will be great for those that watch The Good Wife. Kinda quirky, and Lois Lane is always a pro. Nothing really new though.

The Whole Truth is a combination of legal drama and CSI that fits all the cliches. Probably will get picked up for a full season, but not much more than that.

Off the Map about silly doctors in third world countries is NOT, I repeat, NOT M*A*S*H.

Better Together will find an audience, just not me. 3 relationships, one family, no interest.

Happy Endings will not self fulfill any prophecy. This post-Gen-Y relationship show may make me hate Kim Bauer more than 24 did. And that's really saying something.

Secret Millionaire is a reality show that pretty much explains itself and the reason why I will give it no more mention.

On all these previews, if the show looks remotely interesting, I'll add the video trailer. Unfortunately for FOX, there are not too many previews I thought were interesting enough to add.

Raising Hope is about a baby being raised by bum of a kid in very unstable conditions. It was cool seeing the chick from Goonies in it, but PASS! I couldn't even finish the preview.

Lonestar is a criminal that steals people's money. I don't care about any redemption story. He is an adulterous thief. That is all. NO THANKS!

Ride-Along featuring Chicago tough guys may be a great show for those with a Chicago connection. I'd personally take back Early Edition for my Chicago fix instead. I prefer a softer Chicago. Wuss. I know.

Mixed signals features Roy from The Office. I can't get past his creepiness from that role. Sorry.

Don't give up hope for FOX yet though.
"I'm going to make you a better man." "Not if I can make you a worse woman." Straight Russell and always wheels off Arnett may have captured lightning in a bottle. This one may be around for quite a few years.

And I don't know what the heck Bob's Burgers is, but but there is some potential there. From the creator of Dr. Katz, which although funny, kinda made me motion sick. None of that here. Waiting for more on this one.

As far as Idol is concerned, contest nights will be changing to 90 minutes while results shows are being cut to 30. Apparently FOX is not happy with losing sometimes 25% or more of the audience on Wednesday nights. Viewers have voiced their displeasure with being jerked around for an hour just to find out who was being shipped off the show by not tuning in. Sounds like an overall win. No pressure to fill 60 minutes for FOX and no need to hang by for nothing from viewers.

NBC UPFRONTS: The Paul Reiser Show is golden

The VERY revamped NBC fall line-up is FULL of new shows.

The NBC and Fox upfronts were today. NBC released a boatload of clips for all their shows. The strongest showing in the post-Heroes era is the Paul Reiser show. The cast seems to be very well rounded. Reiser got a bum deal after Mad About You. That show was written so smug that it turned many people away from Paul. Great to see this guy get another chance at Hollywood. He has a great presence.

Outsourced seems way too filled with uncomfortable humor. Reminds me way too much of exploitive Borat. Sorry.

The Cape looks like it may be fun for its initial 13 episode run, but I worry about the longevity.

The Event looks to be a LOST replacement. I am not sure if this could hold for much more than a mini series either.

Outlaw's crazy fun Jimmy Smits shows some inspiration that most legal shows avoid like the plague. Instead of being wrapped up in drama that takes away from the show, this one looks like a lot of great character development!

Harry's Law may be kind of fun with Kathy Bates. I really hate that Dr. Romano is playing Dr. Romano in this though. He actually has the ability to play a really great character, but doesn't.

Love Bites is dateless and desperate and does not seem very fun at all.

Perfect Couples - Relationships of hate - not fun either.

Didn't even watch Friends With Benefits. The title was more offensive than Cougar Town.

Between these three shows -- is America THAT desperate to replace Sex and the City? Ugh!

Chase is The Fugitive where the bad guys are bad guys.

Undercovers is to "sexy" for its own good.

To wrap it up though, is School Pride. THIS is where reality TV should be headed. Touching hundreds of lives instead of individuals. Inspiring communities. Jump starting kids in middle school. I may watch this entire run!

20k Leagues surfaces again.

Disney has found Nemo a new director. By Matthew Belloni and Borys Kit
Captain Nemo and his Nautilus are surfacing again.
Months after deep-sixing a McG-helmed version of "20,000 Leagues Under the Sea," Disney is in negotiations with David Fincher to direct, and hot "Bourne Ultimatum" scribe Scott Z. Burns to write, a new take on the classic Jules Verne story.
The project came together after Fincher approached Disney's new production head Sean Bailey a few weeks into his job this winter. The Oscar-nominated helmer wanted to tackle a four-quadrant tentpole movie, somewhat of a departure from the dark, R-rated dramas such as "Fight Club" and "Zodiac" (or even "Curious Case of Benjamin Button") that he's done in the past.
The project was being developed under the radar as Bailey settled into his position under new studio topper Rich Ross, then gained steam in the past few days with Fincher and Burns entering talks for deals.
First published in 1869, the classic science fiction novel is in the public domain. But ever since Disney's Kirk Douglas-starring version was released in 1954, the studio and the Verne story -- about a group of men who encounter a vengeful scientific genius and his warlike submarine -- have been linked in the public's mind. Last year, Disney was fast-tracking a $150 million "Leagues" that would have served as an origin story for Nemo. But the project was the first of several to be sunk by Ross when he took over the studio from Dick Cook in the fall (ironically, given Fincher's involvement, the dark tone of the McG version was a concern for the new regime).
It's not surprising that Disney would revisit "Leagues." Ross has said his mandate is to make wide-appeal, pre-branded entertainment. And while plotlines are being kept submerged, the Fincher/Burns take on the material is described as being in the vein of "Star Wars" or "The Empire Strikes Back." It will aim to be visually dazzling.
Burns, who penned Steven Soderbergh's latest "Contagion" as well as "The Informant!," will begin writing immediately. That should give Fincher, who is in post on "The Social Network" for Sony, time to direct another movie (possibly "The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo," also for Sony, but his name has surfaced in connection with a host of projects) before jumping into "Leagues."

ABC says keep V kill Flash Forward. Guess what, it sank itself by giving people NO REASON TO WATCH! It is like the prequels. When you know where it is going, why bother? Every time they gave hints that the future many not be set in stone, they circle back. It just started again last week when they started the "universe self correcting" stuff. Binford's wife is a cheating skank-- causing Mark to drink. Noh still may bite it like everybody else. Viewers say "why bother" if they are just going to be jerked around. The past two weeks have really disappointed.

The fall season won't be a sad as I thought.

Nightmare on Elm Street without the camp? Sounds interesting. Freddy's burns look real this time. The flash cuts between dreamland look sharp. Lee was trying way too hard at the beginning, but finished really strong.

Mike and Casey sang songs that I never heard of, so meh.

Crystal sang my absolute most favorite Twain song. This song of hers is MAGICAL and about raw emotions of the self confidence an safe place of internal dialogue. She missed the tone completely. She even admitted that she was singing it TO the dude in the audience. It came off nervous and unconfident. This has happened way too much this season.

Disney World guy, vanilla, but better vanilla than normal.

Sheboygan, is that a skort dress? Huh. Okay. The song was okay, huge ending, but the two pieces didn't go together. It was like a twofer. The end was super, and a little more of that same feel throughout and I would have totally dug it. If she would have gone total soul, it would have rocked.

2nd week in a row where I like Lee the best.

This is slowly becoming one of my favorite seasons. I swore for the first 2.5 months that this would fizzle out for me this season, but it is very competitive and the music selections are fun.

I do not like all these Pixar sequels. 3 in a row now. TS3 this year. Cars 2, the world circuit or whatever the tag line will be next, and now this.

Monsters seemed like a very wrapped up story. I do trust in Pixar, but yeesh.

Oh, another name change. Bear and the Bow is now Brave. Better name for sure.

Disney Oceans - Earth Day 2010

This review will be broken into several thoughts.

1) The IMAX format of 30-45 minutes is MUCH better than 90 minutes for nature films. Good news, this is the only negative point of the entire review! Yeah! That means the rest was fantastic, even if long.

2) The opening tone and underlying theme are grand! The film starts with a rocket blasting into space with sea/land creatures observing. The point is not so much "look how people are ruining the planet" and more "why are we so interested in what is out there, which as far as we know, contains no life, when amazing universes are right here to not only be discovered, but appreciated." The point being that so much of our energy as humans is spent defying and escaping from the planet that gave us life, but the wonders that it provides far exceed these escapes we long for.

3) Unlike last years Disney Earth, this was not filled with shocking bloody toothed images of animals killing eachother and their final breaths. I understand fully that meat eaters eat meat, but National Geographic and Animal Planet offer plenty of opportunity to show the harsher realities of the animal kingdom. Remember the audience you are targeting when you promote your film, they will see the film. They will not be longing for those scenes. Trust me. I am one of them.

4) WOW, the animals. I discovered several creatures that left me in silent wonder.

5) I never want to be on a boat in the wild sea.

6) Humpback Whales! There is a reason why Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home is the highest grossing Trek movie until last year's reboot. People were ready 25 years ago for planetary responsibility - and we are finally finding ways to fulfill those desires. The human race is taking a wild turn. As a friend told me a few months ago, alternative energy sources that are not renewable are not a solution. They are just shifting the problem. I think I went on a tangent, but I am not unsatisfied by the results. Back on topic, they don't dare throw a camera in the middle of those things! Wowzers!

7) Baby sea turtles are the cutest thing on the planet.

8) Remington Steele did a great job as narrator. In no way felt it was him throughout the film.

9) Good coverage across the planet. Sharks, whales, dolphins, squid, crabs, seals, I appreciate the mix of creatures and naming most that I did not know. I am more smarter now.

10) If you are going to do nine, you better do a tenth. Jordan spotted a Hidden Mickey when they talked about asteroids at the beginning.

Lee kicked arse tonight! Reasons:

1) Absolute perfect song choice. Another one of my top 10 favorite songs of all time with The Boxer.

2) Man, his passion was stronger than his singing, which is just so amazing.

3) Great take. It was so different than the original, that both make the hair on the back of my neck literally convert to a comforting silk.

Sounds like a man-crush, I know, but I might even have to download my first Idol tune from iTunes.

LOST article confirms my suspicions about Jacob may not be unfounded.

SPOILERS from TV Guide

First, on Lost, we’ll learn that Jacob—soon to have a confrontation with Jack—may not be so godly after all when his character takes center stage in “Across the Sea” on May 11 (followed a week later by the penultimate “XXX”). “Jacob has a lot of darkness and corners we haven’t explored yet, so the differences between him and Lucifer are not as much as you would think,” says Mark, an L.A. native who shares a passion for martial arts with Lost rival/real-life chum Titus Welliver (Man in Black). “With these archetypal characters, the boundary between good and evil becomes blurry. Jacob’s on a mission. It’s your judgment as to whether he’s good or bad.”

I have strong feelings that the "white stone" may be more evil than the black. Symbolism being what it is and all, white has often stood for a mor mysterious, hidden evil. Jacob might just end up being the true source of all evil. We'll find out soon enough.

Game 3, although seeded higher, make no mistake, the Coyotes are the underDOGS in this matchup.

Game 4, since the Sharks are the number one seed, we do need to give them a little respect and count them as a favorite, but any fan of the NHL knows that over the past dozen years that the Sharks are basically the whipping boys of the playoffs. Lots of regular season points, no Stanley Cup Finals experience.

So, what did we learn tonight?

The NHL happens to be very evenly matched.

Overtime playoff hockey can be very bad for productivity the next day.... I don't know if I would rather this thing end early, even if it means a Sharks win. I take that back, nothing is more important than the Sharks losing this first round, especially against a sinking Colorado going into the playoffs.

I still have not developed a strategy for which teams I am cheering for, but I do hope the Red Wings are plagued with a case of the "too little, too lates." seeing how they played the last 6 weeks, they are once again the team to beat. LA may suprise and the Blackhawks may make a strong run, but I have not felt this uncomfortible about the west...well...ever.

In the east, there are 3 teams fighting to make a run at the finals, Devils, Pens, and Caps. I do not see a situation where any of the other five make it to the finals. Those three teams literally have the top 4 most talented goal scorers in the game.

Full playoff updates coming daily, at least through this first action packed round.

Deaths that did NOT make 24 better, but worse...

#1David Palmer - could still be political backup power

#2Curtis Manning - Could still be running point with Jack, but he was really mad about some drama in his early GI Joe days and Jack shot him out of the blue.

#3Edgar - had a fun dynamic as CTU's more special child.

#4Renee - this may be the worst offense of the show yet, why did they do it, really?

#5 Bill Buchanan - Only CTU head that trusted Jack, even when given no reason to.

There were some good deaths-Sheri Palmer, Fat Hobbit, Michelle, Hassan, Terri, George Mason(greatness), and Ryan Chapelle (Top 3 scene in the shows history). See, these deaths all served a purpose, but didn't affect the dynamic of why fans watch the show. It is sad that by just keepng 2-3 of the favorites around instead of replacing them with an identical character that the audience has no attachment to is what killed this show more than anything. Freelance Tony saving Audry and Jack is still the greatest of what the show has to offer because it showed that the show was willng to give viewers what they wanted. Same feeling with Renee a few weeks ago. Instead they just give us viewers the collective finger and kill off the best of what this show has to offer. Dang I wish this show could have gone on 2-3 more seasons at it's strongest levels in seasons 3-5.

DANG ME!!!

All I had to do was write an easy 20 page paper and work with my professor to polish it up. Then -- Graduation.

Instead, I tried to get fancy and turned it into a news article instead of a trade publication article.

I let my ego take charge of my creative process and it backfired big time.

I knew my grade was in jeopardy because of my fringe grade on my final exam. 82%. I had to make an 80 to pass the class.

I was right on track, but instead of working with my professor to put the finishing touches on my paper, I scrapped about half of it and tried to "be cute" and do something different.

My final paper had just a few too many typos and I was docked 20% right off the bat for not following the assigned format.

In the end, a 73% on my paper was not enough.

A "C".....DANGITALL!

Out $2000 for the class....

No Graduation until August....

Another disappointment....

Like I should be surprised....

Maybe I just am not cut out to cap this Grad School thing off....

The whole process of completing my paper forced me to really evaluate how I could take the next step in my career. My advising professor worked with me to ensure that my capstone paper pushed me in the right direction to move forward. I even have a pretty well thought out plan that should take shape that could be absolutely AWESOME.

Gotta do my time at my current job first. Thanks, employer of mine, for helping get me here.

Thanks to my darling wife and children for their absolute support. They did not deserve to have to go through this process with me over the past 20 months, but they sacrificed so much more than they ever needed to.

Thanks to my parents. Not only providing me the means to complete this process, but being there every single week, pushing me to keep going. My brainstorm team really helped me focus when I needed to move forward. 2 BIG THUMBS UP!

My brother, whose simple words of "I'm proud of you", on multiple occasions gave me the strength to overcome my fears and avoid the easy out. Thanks.

Lee - That was really awesome, totally felt like a scene from the Blues Brothers. I think that was the scene right before they went to the church, right? It will be hard to beat for the rest of the field. Simon, you silly man, that was great.

Jordan's Review of Paige - She has a very soft voice and hitting all the right notes. This is a good choice for her. I really like how she started off soft and got louder towards the end.

Jeff's Review of Paige - No review necessary. The performance speaks for itself.

Tim - SAFE! The slide into second might just be enough to keep him around another week. Or it might be Paige's stinkiness. Very safe song.

Didi - She grunts like she's on the toilet really good. I am really lost for a theme tonight.

American Idol Top 11

Why Window Washer story? Why? How much exposition are we going to get? Just because ABC decided to give this show a 4 month hiatus, does not mean that the audience cared if it came back. Much more importantly, why such long wait in the episode before we see anything new? 15+ minutes and we find that the lead guy is going to a shrink.

They let the ratty guy in the other guy's computer-- ALONE? HOLY COW!! THE MASKIES!! Something interesting finally happened on this show!! This is the first plot progression since the guy jumped off the building. Wait, the other guards didn't notice what happened? Yeah, disabled kids always make a show fine and heartwarming, or a total beating.

The nurse girl chased after the wrong guy and turned to the correct guy and -- LOST HER CLIPBOARD! The continuity person's job is so overrated.

I expected nothing more and nothing less from "I'm the villain" guy.

So, the shrink has about a half dozen Mighty Muggs

on her window. What purpose do they serve, beyond pandering to the 30+ something male that has nothing better to spend his disposable income on, in hopes of getting him to continue watching?

Hydra? Is Madam Hydra behind the whole thing?

Here is that part II -- just a bit late.

So, the Hobbit was the bad guy -- JUST LIKE THEY PROMOTED HIM TO BE WHEN HE WAS CAST! Also, as they promoted him to be until the big reveal that he was unaware of his designs being used in outer Mongolia or whatever country that was in.

The second half of this episode was the best the show has offered to date. There are only two really memorable episodes of this series so far, this one and the one where the one cop offed himself by jumping off the roof. I do finally see some promise, but I still feel the concept is very limiting and should have been held to a 13 episode miniseries instead.

SO, WHEN THE DRUNK COP AND HOME WRECKER TALK ON THE PHONE, THEY DON'T REMEMBER THAT THEY WOULD HAVE REMEMBERED THE CONVERSATION??? BUT THEY DO REMEMBER THE 8 BALL??? The logic behind these flash forwards still make NO SENSE AT ALL. The only one that realized that their flash forward was coming true during their flash forward continues to still be the suicidal doctor. Besides him, they are all still shocked to be in their flash forwards. Why do none of these people say "Wow, look, it did happen just like I saw it was going to happen"?????

Window Washer guy better not come back -- he is creepy beyond belief. Being drowned to death = baptism??? Talk about mixed metaphors. You cannot say that the baptism is a means to salvation and equate that to being drowned to death. Are you just needing to have it both ways that bad?

Knoblauch pleads guilty in assault

HOUSTON -- Former major league infielder Chuck Knoblauch has pleaded guilty to misdemeanor assault on his common-law wife.

According to court records, Knoblauch entered his plea Tuesday in exchange for deferred-adjudication probation. Successful completion of his one-year probation could mean the conviction on the assault of a family member would be expunged from the record.

Knoblauch also was fined $1,000. Knoblauch's attorney didn't return a telephone call Tuesday.

According to a criminal complaint, Knoblauch's wife told police he hit her in the face and choked her at their Houston home in September.

The 41-year-old Houston native played for the Minnesota Twins, New York Yankees and Kansas City Royals from 1991-2002. In 12 seasons, the 1991 American League Rookie of the Year and four-time All-Star batted .289 with 98 home runs and 615 RBIs.

This is Rolling Stones night -- this should the most badarse episode of AI ever!

01 Michael Lynche- It was like a fat stripper?!? Why would he do that? Way stupid! Simon agrees wholeheartedly. Ryan getting in Simon's face was funny -- then Simon pulls the uncomfortible gay thing -- BOO SIMON!

02 Didi Benamini - The "you should think I am sexy" attitude does not work at all with the "I have to go number 2" face. Terrible combination. She tried acting tough, it kinda worked. She won't be cried off stage this week. Pretty solid job.

03 Casey James - Known from now on as Guy Smiley -- go watch a bit more Rockabilly. This genre is supposed to have ENERGY, not just make silly faces. The singing was okay, but nothing I will remember. Ellen, the gay joke will not go over with America. I saw it coming and hoped for her sake she would not. ELLEN-- YOU ARE TOO GOOD FOR GAY JOKES. Why are people booing Simon for telling him that he is almost there.

So, Hannah Montana is in a new movie where she is not Hannah Montana, but she is still acting like Hannah Montana. I think I am confused.

04 Lacy - To be known from now on as RUBY TUESDAY -- This is one of my top 3 favorite Stones Songs. Red Hair - Ruby -- ON TUESDAY-- I have that weird tickle on the back of my neck -- too bad it is not a hopeful or exciting tickle. TThere was about 2-3 good lines that were followed with some really tacky shower singing. "Still-I'm-Gonna-Miss-You" zipperoo was silly. Especially since it sounded like a bird. Really sad disappointment. The zipperoo part was supposed to be the slow part of longing. UNDERSTAND THE SONG BEFORE YOU SING IT.

05 Andrew Garcia - To be known from now on as Horatifaux Sanz - I liked it -- and it felt very eighties cool. I don't know what Randy's problem was. What is Kara talking about -- war and killing??? This is the first time on the LIVE shows where I have liked him.

07 Tim Urban - From Duncanville -- HOME OF SATAN AND THE PRETTY BOYS! Oh, and gymnastic chicks. UNDER MY THUMB -- another FANTASTIC STONES PIECE OF GENIUS. Pretty chill version. For some reason I want a fruity drink right now. Judges may hate it -- but I love the sound. Does not match the song though?!?!?!? WHY DO THESE PEOPLE NOT READ THE WORDS BEFORE SINGING THEM????? Satisfaction would have been a MUCH better song to do in reggae.

08 Siobhan - This is not the Power Rangers? Why is she on the Empire Strikes Back stairs???

This song is working pretty good. Why is there a British Nanny on her arm? Is that Sherry Bobbins?

This actually had some pretty cool Stones vibe to it. Easily the best of the night. I do wish Vader would have come out on stage and lopped off her head -- not because she was bad, but because it would so cool.

09 Lee - GO TMNT TSHIRT. I think a little brother I know had that exact same shirt. I really dug that chill song much better. Simon is right, he is very wooden. He will stop the inspiration of willpower, right Alan Scott?

10 Paige - Um, er, um. Ci-tay? Row-says? She turned the song into something out of a Drag Queen Review. This was just as bad as Horatifaux Sanz "Genie in a Bottle" a few weeks ago.

11 Aaron - Known from now on as Vanilla Nice - This guy is about as vanilla as there has ever been on AI. He is nice, but never good or bad beyond reason.

This is the GREATEST Stones song ever made. This may be one of the top 5 songs ever created. It is the song of the human condition. It perfectly explains what people should expect from this planet of ours and what they can also give to the planet in return. Especially true in a world of extreme exposure to the advertising and consumerism overload. Just remember-- no matter what happens in the world-- if you try sometimes...you might find...you get what you need. The key words being "TRY" and "NEED". This world is not going to give you anything -- but you have the ability to get by. And all you have to do is try. Not go insane and kill yourself for it. Just try. What you need -- really is enough. All the rest is throwaway. Really it is. You could throw it all in the trash -- but still have what you need.

12 Crystal - Golden. When all it really need to be was a loaf of bread. But is really was GOLDEN. Shut your stupid face Simon. Quit creating drama from nothing. Way to put him in his place.

Jabba the Hutt -- Parks and Recreation intro --

Parks and Rec has easily become my second favorite comedy on television this year. The first few episodes were easily a terrible rip off of The Office with an initial story arc that was flat out stupid. I started watching a few episodes into the second season when they filled in "the pit". Before that, I peeked in a few times and it was the same premise each time, Ann dealing with her ex-boyfriend who got hurt falling in "the pit", and Leslie deciding what to do with "the pit". Once "the pit" was gone as the major plot device, I fell in love with the show.

Community is #1. P&R is my second favorite baby now though.

Leslie is more in the background instead of involved in every scene. The show, and she, are no where near as over the top and unbelievable as The Office has become. The fact that they made everybody, especially her mom, stop hating her and respecting her was a huge turnaround.

Ron ******* Swanson steals every second he is on the screen.

Andy turned from stupid, annoying, and pathetic freak into one of the greatest adorable dufuses in TV history.

Ann and Mark try to exist as normal people, but still get wrapped up in all the wackyness.

The actor that plays Tom is one of the funniest and freshest dudes I have seen in a long time. Tom is more insane than Michael Scott, but covers up the disgusting and plays human much better than Michael Scott, instead just being a caricature of himself.

April's struggle as a nonconformist and yet yearning for the fruits of conformity is a great character struggle. Remind you of anybody???

Jerry and Donna are right up there with Kevin and Creed from The Office as my favorite background characters ever. Jerry never wins, but Donna always does.

Variety is reporting that the plug may be pulled on the next 24 hours. Shame that they just never really gave the fans what they wanted. Season three was full steam ahead, but the deaths of key characters replaced with hackish characitures of what made the originals work left fans wondering much more "why did they do that!" than "that was awesome!"
